Helping you to get online

If you require help for you to get online and become more digital savvy why not become a member in any of our 5 libraries and use our free PC’s. To become a member just bring in a form of ID with your name and address on (Drivers licence/Utility bill etc).

As more services move online and the world becomes more ‘digital’, it is becoming increasingly important that everyone has the right skills to navigate the digital world successfully. At Knowsley Library Service, we can help you get started on your digital journey. So, if you are a complete beginner or need some more advice or support, we are here to help in a variety of ways.

Digital Volunteers are available every week at several libraries within the Borough.

  • Prescot Library – Fridays 10.30am – 12pm
  • Halewood Library  – Wednesdays  11 am- 1 pm (Starting 6th August)

These are drop in session so you don’t need to book. Please come along, and our volunteers will be happy to help you.

This scheme is provided by Include-IT Mersey, which is a digital inclusion project aiming to help people get online across the Liverpool City Region. Information about available help or how you can volunteer can be found on the Include IT Mersey website.

Our Libraries offer free, drop-in Tea and Tech for adults seeking with phones and tablets. Details of when these are happening at your local library can be found on the Knowsley Library Service events page.

For those wanting to learn at their own pace, our libraries offer access to a wide range of online technology guides that can assist you with browsing the internet, online shopping, communicating online with friends and family and even playing games. These guides can be accessed in our libraries and from home.

We also have a wide range of online resources, printable guides, video tutorials and much more, including eAudiobooks, eBooks and online learning opportunities. Ask at your local library for more details.

Digital Buddies offer free digital 1-2-1 support sessions to help you feel more confident using the internet and online services.

Our Digital Buddies can help you with;

  • Email
  • Browsing the web and staying safe online
  • Video calling
  • Online shopping and banking
  • Social media
  • Using online Council services, including using online chat, accessing online forms to apply for or report something to us
  • Using online Library services, including eBooks and eAudiobooks and your online library account
