Knowsley Children Libraries
All of our libraries have a dedicated children’s area and these are welcoming spaces for all ages. The library is a great place for children to explore and access our wide range of books, activities and events throughout the year. No one is too young to join the library and it is all free!
Did you know that by regularly visiting your local children’s libraries you can
- help your child to become a confident reader
- access resources to help your child with their homework or hobbies
- access a wide range of activities throughout the year which will help them to develop their social skills and ignite a passion for reading
We hold a wide range of stock so we are fairly confident that you will find something you will enjoy.
Under 5’s Word and Picture Session
All of our libraries host a weekly under 5’s Words and Pictures session. This involves play time, singing, reading a story and mixing with other families. There is no need to book – just turn up and join in.
Story time and other activities for children and young people take place throughout the year, so check your local library to find out more.
BookStart
Knowsley Library Service is part of the BookStart initiative which is designed to support families in discovering the magic of shared reading from their earliest days.
Delivered across England, Wales and Northern Ireland, the Bookstart programme offers books, resources and activities that encourage and support family reading for young children at different stages as part of our early years reading journey.
Class library visits
Teachers can bring their classes to the library to help pupils enjoy reading even more.
To book a class visit, just contact your local library.
Teenagers and young adults
