Computer Access in Libraries

All our libraries offer free wi-fi with no time limits! All you need to do is log in your device by accepting our internet usage policy and entering the password ‘Library2017’. Happy surfing!

Public Computers

All of our libraries have PCs available for public use, with the following resources available:

  • Internet Explorer
  • Microsoft Office
  • Printing (please note there is a small charge for printing)
  • USB ports for saving work on to a memory stick
  • Internet
  • Flatbed scanner

To access our computers, you need to log on with your library card number and your library PIN. If you don’t know your PIN, please speak to a member of staff. However, please note you will need to produce some ID before staff can reissue your PIN to ensure data protection for all our customers.

Members of the library can use our computers for free for up to two hours a day at all of our libraries, subject to availability. It is always possible to use a computer for longer than two hours, provided there is one free, and nobody else is waiting. In these cases, just ask a member of staff and they will extend your session.

Please note the computers are automatically switched off 15 minutes before the library closes.

Internet use and children

Our registration process requires that children under the age of 12 obtain parental permission before they can access the internet. If you wish for your child to not access the internet, please speak to a member of staff.

Knowsley Library adopts a robust filtering system to ensure that harmful or illegal sites are blocked. This is not to act as a barrier to legitimate internet use but to reduce the risk of exposure to unsuitable material. For these reasons alone you might find that some web pages have been blocked by our automatic filter.

As with any automated system, mistakes can be made, so please let us know if you come across a site you think has been blocked in error.

Staff support

Staff are available to offer basic support with computers or wi-fi as you need it, so feel free to ask. If you’re a complete beginner and need more support then we have a range of resources and courses to help get you started.
