School Holiday Activities & Events
Looking for ways of keeping the kids occupied during the school holidays, but don’t want to break the bank (again)? There are always a number of fun, free activities going on in your local library during half term and summer holidays. For details, check our Facebook page, or just pick up a leaflet at your library as holiday times approach. If you want to be sure to be kept informed, email us at yourlibrary@knowsley.gov.uk and ask to be added to our mailing list for family activities.
Words & Pictures for under 5s
An informal introduction to the library for under 5’s and their carers, weekly Words & Pictures sessions last about an hour and consist of a story for the very little ones, (maybe even some nursery rhymes or a song if you’re really lucky!) and a simple craft or some time to play with the toys in the children’s area. Only during term times.
Annual Summer Reading Challenge
The Summer Reading Challenge is designed to keep your children reading during the long summer holidays. It takes place every year during the summer holidays. You can sign up at your local library and read six library books of your choice to complete the Challenge. There are exclusive rewards to collect along the way, and it’s FREE to take part! The 2019 SRC is now finished. Come back next year to find out about the theme for 2020. After School Club
Every Knowsley library has an after school club. After school clubs are very popular with children as a way of exploring creative activities and crafts. And there is he added bonus of being able to borrow books during their visit. Bring the kids along to make something special to take home. Mums, dads and carers are always welcome.
